Hospitality for me, is when you give your guests the best you have… the best food, wine, cutlery, glassware and even the best seat in the house. Making guests feel so comfortable, that they want to come back."

My grandfather makes wine every year and my most memorable moments were helping him in the vineyard and at his small lagar. Grapes would be trodden by his own feet, with the help of my dad and uncles.
In the evening we would share a family meal together, around the table, with music in the background. The fireplace would be on continually, smoking the pork that was hanging above it. The delicious smell of my grandmothers fresh baked bread every day would match the taste of her food on the table and the banquet of incredible produce during harvest times. Olive oil, also made at home from our very own trees, never skipped the table. It would have been difficult not to fall in love with wine, food and my own family. I am very happy to have grown up in this culture and understood the importance of sharing time at the table with the loved ones from an early age. Hospitality for me, is when you give your guests the best you have… the best food, wine, cutlery, glassware and even the best seat in the house. Making guests feel so comfortable, that they want to come back. |
